Edmund Oswald Teale 1874-1971
Born in Melbourne, Australia.
Created a knight in 1936 during Colonial service in Tanganyika, Teale's surname was "Thiele" until 1917 when he anglicised it to Teale. He was a field geologist with Geological Survey of Victoria, and after working in Australia and New Zealand he then worked in Africa. He was a Fellow of the Geological Society for 61 years. A collection of his photographs is available to view below, and some of publications are available to view in GeoLib.
The Edmund Oswald Teale photograph archive has been released on GeoScenic. The photographs were taken between 1910-1930 and illustrate the life of a field geologist in Africa.
