Normal background concentrations of contaminants — WMS

There are many words to describe 'normal' levels of contaminants in soils.

Domain polygons for normal background concentrations (NBCs) of contaminants in English soils data are made available to view here as a WMS service.

Data layers include:

  1. Domain polygons
    • Arsenic (As)
    • Benzo-[a]-pyrene (BaP)
    • Cadmium (Cd)
    • Chromium (Cr)
    • Copper (Cu)
    • Lead (Pb)
    • Mercury (Hg)
    • Nickel (Ni)
  2. Urbanisation index polygons defined from GLUD database
  3. Polygons defining areas of metalliferous mining derived from the Ove Arup database

How to view a WMS

WMS services must be viewed in compatible software.

Tutorial videos showing how to include a WMS in an ArcGIS or MapInfo project are provided. To view WMS in other systems, please refer to their documentation.
