Eastwood, S.E. Hollingworth, F.M. Trotter and W.C.C. Rose in 1932. Re-issue as a combined Gosforth (Sheet 37) and Bootie (Sheet 47) sheet with minor amendments by L.C. Jones in 1980. Revised in 1996 with incorporation of offshore geology, from interpretations of geological and commercial seismic data by BGS and J. Arthur & Associates on behalf of UK Nirex Ltd. Offshore sea bed sediments and Quaternary geology compiled by R.T.R. Wingfield in 1983. Compiled by A.A. Irving, R.P. Barnes and R.A. Chadwick. D.J. Fettes, Regional Geologist.
