This Provisional Edition is based on the revised Old Series Sheets, on Sheet 296 of the Soil Survey of England and Wales published in 1955, and on geological survey on the six-inch scale by G.A. Kellaway and G.W. Green in 1938 and 1946 (southern margin). by R. Beveridge. G.W. Green and D.R.A. Ponsford in 1951-5 (northern margin) and by Professor M.R.
