The BGS Edinburgh offices are situated on the King's Buildings Campus of the University of Edinburgh on West Mains Road, and are easily reached by car and well served by public transport. There are no parking restrictions on West Mains Road at the weekends. If travelling by car from out of town, approach from the city bypass exits at Lothianburn or Straiton at south Edinburgh. Directions by public transport
A new public transport service - Service 67 - started on Monday 20th October 2008 to connect the City Centre with the Central Area, King's Buildings and Easter Bush. This new service will be provided by Lothian Buses and financially supported by Edinburgh University.This Service will serve both BGS sites at Murchison House and at Loanhead.
Key Information
Route of the service: Hanover Street - The Mound - Potterrow (for Central Area / George Square) - Summerhall (Royal Dick Vet School) - Mayfield Road (BGS/ King's Buildings) - Straiton Park & Ride -BGS
Loanhead- Bilston Roundabout - Easter Bush (Royal Dick Vet School) - Pentlands Science Park (identical route in reverse).
Operating times: Monday - Friday, 0700 - 19:30 Journey time: approximately 35 minutes from Hanover Street to Easter Bush Fares : Normal Lothian Buses fares apply.
To get to the bus stop for this service from Waverley railway station walk westwards along Prince's Street to the bus stop next to the Royal Scottish Academy on the Mound. Board a Lothian Buses number 67 [see above] or number 41 and alight at Blackford Station. Walk up Blackford Avenue and left on to West Mains Road. Please note Service 41 now terminates every second service at King's buildings.
