BGS Rock Classification Scheme
Quartzolite - A type of quartz-rich-coarse-grained-crystalline-rock. In the Rock Classification Scheme, it is a collective term for coarse-grained crystalline rocks in which quartz comprises more than 90% of the felsic minerals. These extremely rare rocks are unlikely to be wholly of primary igneous origin. British Geological Survey Research Report RR/99/06, section 5.1 and figs. 9, 11, 12.
