BGS Rock Classification Scheme

Dolomite-framestone - A type of dolostone, classified on the basis of its biogenic texture. It is a type of reef rock consisting of a rigid framework of colonies, shells or skeletons. Qualifiers No qualifiers currently exist.
Definition Sedimentary rock with components >50% magnesium carbonates. Dolomite >50% of magnesium carbonate crystals. Fine, 0.032 to 0.25mm sediment fills cavities in framework of colonies of shells or skeletons.
