Who were we?

We were the dining club of the geologists of the Edinburgh office.
Our first meeting was in Dejay's Hotel on February 16th 1869.

We met to dine and listen to songs and recitations specially written for the occasion
- many of which pilloried senior staff and the Directorate.

Our traditions died in 1970, in our records, the 'Dinner Books' it is simply stated:

'There was no entertainment.'

Geologists' dinners then ceased...
