Dr Helen Reeves
Head of Science
Dr Helen Reeves is an engineering geologist with over 14 years post graduate experience; graduating with a Geological Sciences degree, Leeds University, and an MSc in Engineering Geology, Durham University.
For her doctorate degree, Durham University, she analysed geological data from Nirex's Sellafield Scientific investigations and identified fractures within the rock mass and how they related to the hydrogeological and stress regime within the Sellafield area.
Previous roles in BGS: geo-engineering properties and processes research; geomechanical rock testing into the development of 'safety cases' for to enable the storage of carbon dioxide in old oil/gas reservoirs; lead investigator for the engineering geological mapping and modelling project of the Mersey Corridor, and mapping of the Glossop landslides, north-west England.
Before Helen joined BGS she worked for a number of UK-based ground investigation companies.
