Using the NHDA | Access Fees (December 2010)

The current schedule of access fees charged by the NHDA for third parties to access NHDA data is listed below. The NHDA may review the individual fees and the fee structure at any time.

The data are made available from the archive at low cost to the public for commercial projects and academic research.

Data Category NHDA Access Fee
Licence data: all reports and maps £100 per licence, plus per well and per survey charges
Field data: all reports and maps £500 per field, plus per well and per survey charges
Field data: all models and production data £500 per field
Seismic data: field and pre-stack Cost of reproduction and shipping
Seismic data : post-stack The data are available to the public and CDA Seismic DataStore members from the CDA Seismic DataStore. The fee charged by the DataStore depends on the volume of data and delivery method/media. There is no NHDA access charge.
Well data: reports and logs £100 per well if provided to the public by the NHDA. The data are also available to CDA Well DataStore members from the CDA Well DataStore. There is no NHDA access charge.
Well data: cores and samples There is a day visitor fee of £120 for visits to BGS core stores. Samples cost £10 each, or £14 if the sample is taken by core store staff.
Geological and geophysical site survey
data from BGS (the MEDIN
DAC)
£100 per survey, plus any reproduction and shipping costs. Other DACS have their own access charges.

The fees are waived on all categories of data for academic use (except for post-stack seismic data delivered from the CDA Seismic DataStore), providing that a waiver form is submitted to BGS with the enquiry. Reproduction and shipping will be charged at cost plus 15%.

VAT at the current rate is applicable to all NHDA fees.
