Lithological Description: Greyish green to dark grey mudstone with pale buff dolomitic bands and lenticles. Becomes darker and more carbonaceous downwards.
Definition of Lower Boundary: Gradational passage down to Monks Park Shale Formation, by increase in content of black carbonaceous mudstone.
Definition of Upper Boundary: Erosional unconformity. Overstepped by younger arenaceous beds.
Thickness: About 90m in general area. About 5.05m true thickness in Merevale No.2 Borehole.
Geographical Limits: Extends from Outwoods north-westwards to just north-east of Woodlands Farm (SP 2978 9620-2849 9870).
