Free download of the Digital Geological Map of Great Britain (DiGMapGB-625) dataset at 1:625 000 scale covering Great Britain and Northern Ireland in ESRI® and MapInfo® formats.
Terms of use
From 1st March 2010 DiGMapGB-625 map data is available for free; includes commercial, research and public use. Where use is made of DiGMapGB-625 map data you must acknowledge the material.

Getting started
GIS software is required to view these data layers. In addition to their full software products, ESRI® make the ArcExplorer data viewer and MapInfo® make the MapInfo® ProviewerTM data viewer freely available. Numerous Open Source alternatives are also available.
Separate bedrock geology and superficial deposits themes are made available. The data are packaged in zip files. Download the files you require and unzip their contents to a specified directory on your machine. Before downloading, please read our software disclaimer.
The data is also made available as OGC WMS and KML web services.

Note: Bedrock geology v.5 does not necessarily fit well with Superficial deposits v.1 as it was prepared using a different coastline. The cartographical accuracy is approximately 1mm which is about 1 km on the ground.
